When Suchitra Pillai revealed her husband dated Preity Zinta, being called a 'boyfriend snatcher': 'Preity and I were never friends'

Actress Suchitra Pillai once reacted to being labelled a ‘boyfriend snatcher‘ after grabbing attention for marrying actress Preity Zinta’s ex-boyfriend, Lars Kjeldsen. In an interview, she clarified that she had not come between their relationship.
During an old conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra addressed the speculation and revealed the truth behind the claims. Speaking about the controversy, she explained that her husband, Lars Kjeldsen, was previously in a relationship with actress Preity Zinta. However, she firmly stated that their breakup had nothing to do with her.
“Preity and I were never friends; we were acquaintances because we had a common friend. But, yes, Lars Kjeldsen did date Preity Zinta for some time, but that was the breakup he had before he met me, and only this part is true. I didn’t come between them; they split up for a totally different reason,” she clarified.

Suchitra recalled how she was wrongly labelled and found herself at the centre of unnecessary gossip. She added that many magazines ran headlines calling her a ‘boyfriend snatcher’. The actress called it a misunderstanding and opened up about the time she returned from England.
“The headline read, ‘Suchitra Pillai is a boyfriend snatcher.’ It was because I started dating Andrew Coyne, who had launched Star Television in India. This was the relationship in question, but it was not because of me that Andrew and his partner, model Achala Sachdev, fell apart. It is water under the bridge after many years, and Achala and I have a laugh about it,” she added.

Suchitra is known for her role in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ as Saif Ali Khan’s character’s girlfriend. She married Lars Kjeldsen in 2005, and the couple shares a daughter, Annika Kjeldsen.
Meanwhile, Preity Zinta went on to marry Gene Goodenough in 2016, and they welcomed twins, Gia and Jai, via surrogacy in 2021.
