Intense rainfall triggered flash floods near Courtallam Falls in Tamil Nadu.

On February 28, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned of heavy rains in 10 districts of Tamil Nadu, including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Madurai.

A shift in easterly wind speed brought showers to several parts of the state on Thursday night, affecting areas such as Senthamangalam, Mangudi, Kamalapuram, Vadapadhimangalam, and Adiyakkamangalam.

The IMD had also forecast moderate rains with thunder and lightning over coastal and interior Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
