BSE shares fall 9% after NSE shifts all expiry dates to Monday

Shares of the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. (BSE) fell as much as 9% on Wednesday, March 5, after the National Stock Exchange made changes to the day of the expiry of its weekly and monthly contracts.

NSE announced on Tuesday evening the Nifty weekly contracts, which currently expire on Thursday, will now expire on Monday every week.

The Monthly, Quarterly and Half Yearly contracts, the Nifty Bank monthly and quarterly contracts, and the Financial Services, Nifty Midcap and Nifty Next 50 Monthly Contracts, which expire on the last Thursday of every month, will now expire on the last Monday helps. The circular will come into effect on April 4. BSE currently has its expiry on Tuesday.

Farmers protest in Chandigarh: 2,000 cops deployed, 18 entry points sealed, traffic jams on national highway

Farmers in Punjab have announced an indefinite protest in Chandigarh starting from Wednesday, March 5, and are organising a tractor march. In response, Chandigarh Police have sealed 18 entry points and deployed a heavy police force at the capital’s border. Around 2,000 police personnel, including all DSPs and SHOs from seven areas, have been stationed at these points.

Authorities have announced that tractors and trolleys will not be allowed to enter Chandigarh. Senior officials have briefed police officers on enforcement, News18 Hindi reported. The protest has caused traffic jams, especially on the Chandigarh-Delhi National Highway. Police barricades at the Zirakpur entry point have led to long traffic delays, and vehicle checks are being conducted. A meeting between Chandigarh and Punjab police officers has been held to discuss stopping the protesters. Residents of Mohali, especially office workers, are facing difficulties in entering Chandigarh.

According to his message, employees must work 12 hours a day on weekdays. He also criticised some employees, saying that many work less than 60 hours a week. Indian government cuts import tariff prices of gold and silver

The government has slashed the import tariff price of gold by $11 per 10 grams, bringing it down to $927 per 10 grams. The move comes amidst ongoing selling pressure on the yellow metal, largely driven by a rebound in the dollar index and profit-taking.

The import tariff price of gold refers to the base price set by the government for calculating the duty levied on gold imported into the country. This price is periodically reviewed and adjusted based on market dynamics, including factors like the dollar index and global gold prices.Along with gold, the import tariff price of silver has also been slashed by $18 per kilogram, bringing the new price to $1,025 per kilogram. This is the second price revision for silver in recent weeks; earlier in February, the government had raised the base import price by $42 per kilogram.

Zepto CEO refutes Deepinder Goyal’s claim on losses, calls it ‘verifiably untrue’

Zepto co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha has refuted a claim made by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal regarding the financial losses of quick commerce firms.

In a LinkedIn post on Tuesday, Palicha called an estimate attributed to Goyal “verifiably untrue” and assured that Zepto’s financial statements would clarify the matter when made public.The disagreement stems from a report in The Economic Times, in which Goyal estimated that quick commerce firms collectively burn around ₹5,000 crore per quarter.
