Veteran singer Asha Bhosle once strongly reacted to Himesh Reshammiya’s comment about RD Burman’s singing, saying, “If anyone says Burman sa’ab sang through his nose, he should be slapped.” In a recent interaction, Himesh addressed her reaction and explained why she was upset with him.
Himesh Acknowledges Asha Bhosle’s Reaction
In a chat with Radio Nasha, Himesh Reshammiya acknowledged, “She was justified, and that’s why I apologized to her.”
Himesh explained Asha Bhosle’s reaction by recalling his early live performances. While his songs were well-received, some critics labeled his singing as nasal. In response, he tried to clarify that his voice was high-pitched rather than nasal. At the time, he defended his style, which led to the controversy.
Realizing the Mistake
The singer admitted that while defending his singing style, he mentioned RD Burman’s name, which upset Asha Bhosle. Her strong reaction followed, and he realized he shouldn’t have made that comparison. Looking back, he felt he should have simply acknowledged the nasal tone, which would have ended the debate.
Meanwhile, he recently addressed Janhvi Kapoor’s playful imitation of him on ‘Koffee With Karan,’ where she mentioned enjoying his workout videos set to ‘Tandoori Nights.’ Himesh expressed appreciation for the enduring popularity of the song and emphasized the importance of perseverance in the face of criticism. He recalled advice from Akshay Kumar, who encouraged him to remain focused and receptive to feedback, which has contributed to his sustained success in the industry.
Himesh Reshammiya rose to fame after composing music for Salman Khan’s Tere Naam and delivered hits with Aitraaz, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Aksar, Bodyguard, and Kick. He debuted as an actor in Aap Kaa Surroor (2007) and later starred in Karzzzz, Radio, The Xposé, and recently, Badass Ravikumar.
