Bharat Electronics Ltd., the Navratna PSU company, announced on Wednesday, March 5, that its board has approved an interim dividend of ₹1.5 per equity share of face value of ₹1 each for financial year 2025.

This is the highest payout by the state-run defence company since August 2022, when it had also announced a final dividend of ₹1.5 per share.

No record date has been announced for the said interim dividend yet, but the company mentioned that the dividend will be paid to shareholders within 30 days from the date of declaration.

The last six instances of Bharat Electronics announcing dividends have all been less than ₹1 per share.

Between 2019 and 2022, Bharat Electronics announced dividends on nine instances, which ranged between ₹1 per share to ₹2 per share, with the ₹1.7 per share announced in August 2019 being the highest.

Bharat Electronics had issued bonus shares in the ratio of 2:1 back in September 2022, meaning shareholders had received two free shares for every one share held.

Shares of Bharat Electronics have surged to the highest point of the day post the dividend announcement, currently trading 2.7% higher at ₹272. The stock still trades over 15% below its recent peak of ₹340.
