'The Diplomat' star Sadia Khateeb recalls the moment she received the offer: 'I thought they were lying'

Sadia Khateeb never planned on becoming an actress. While studying electrical engineering and enjoying life in Jammu, an unexpected audition led her to land the lead role in Laila Majnu. Recalling the moment she received the news, Sadia revealed, “I thought they were lying.” Sharing the amusing reaction from her family, she mentioned that her father was unaware of her acting ambitions, while her mother feared it might be a case of human trafficking. Her mother even created a reel about the same. The actress said that she still gets funnily mocked regarding the same. Sadia shared these insights during a candid chat with Instant Bollywood.
Current Work and Film Performance
On the professional front, Sadia Khateeb was last seen in The Diplomat. The film, inspired by true events, revolves around an Indian diplomat’s mission to rescue a woman allegedly trapped in a forced marriage in Pakistan. According to Sacnilk, The Diplomat has earned Rs 26.55 crore at the domestic box office as of Day 11, with a daily collection of Rs 90 lakhs. The movie recorded a 7.76% occupancy rate in Hindi-speaking regions, with night shows drawing the largest crowd at 10.07%. Morning shows had a modest 4.81% occupancy, while afternoon and evening shows reached 7.86% and 8.31%, respectively.
The Diplomat: A High-Stakes Rescue Mission
The gripping storyline follows Uzma Ahmed, who arrives at the Indian embassy claiming she was abducted and coerced into marriage in Pakistan.
