Rakesh Roshan’s signature bald look has been a point of curiosity in showbiz for a few years now, with many eager to know the reason behind it. In a recent conversation, the director-producer opened up about the personal commitment that led to this transformation.
In an interview with ANI, Roshan revealed that his decision to shave his head was the result of a vow he had made. Reflecting on the turning point in his career, he shared, “Khudgarz was my last chance as an actor, director, and producer. If that film hadn’t done well, I wouldn’t be sitting here. So I had taken a vow that if the film succeeded, I would shave off my hair. And the movie worked, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. However, I couldn’t sleep because I had taken that vow and hadn’t been able to fulfil it. So the next day, I called the barber home, and he sat in front of me for an hour. Even then, I was debating whether I should go through with it or not. But then I finally did it.”
Earlier, Roshan’s decision to step back from directing the much-anticipated Krrish 4 also made headlines. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he explained his reasons for passing on the directorial responsibilities.
The celebrated director launched the Krrish franchise with the 2003 sci-fi hit ‘Koi Mil Gaya‘, starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. The film’s massive success paved the way for ‘Krrish’ (2006), featuring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, followed by ‘Krrish 3’ (2013), which starred Hrithik alongside Priyanka, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut. The franchise has since remained a fan favourite, with ‘Krrish 4’ currently in development.
