A High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) under chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has approved proposals that entail investment to the tune of ₹1,65,303 crore.
According to State Industries Department, the projects which covers steel, aluminium, power generation, green hydrogen, engineering goods and green energy equipment are expected to generate over 51,939 jobs.
These projects will come in seven districts such as Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj and Rayagada.
The biggest investment has come from Vedanta Group which is setting up two projects in the Rayagada district. The first includes a ₹50,537 crore investment for 6 MTPA alumina refinery while second project is greenfield 1.2 MTPA aluminium smelter with an investment of ₹40,991 crore. The two projects will provide15,900 jobs.
JSW Steel Limited, one of India’s leading producers of steel, will be setting up a 5 MTPA integrated steel plant along with upstream and downstream facilities making an investment of ₹35,000 crore generating 8,000 employments in Keonjhar. Mr. Majhi’s home district.
The OCL Iron and steel Limited will be expanding its steel production with an investment of ₹3,000 crores by setting up a 1.2 MTPA integrated steel plant in Keonjhar.
In neighbouring Bhadrak district, Shyam Steel Works Private Limited will establish a 1.5 MTPA integrated steel Plant with an investment of ₹5,200 crore investment.
In the Power sector, Orissa Thermal Energy Limited will set up a 2400 MW ultra super critical coal-based thermal power plant which will bring in an investment of ₹18,450 crore. The Orissa Metallurgical Industry Private Limited has proposed to invest ₹8,000 crores in titanium complex for producing titanium slag, titanium pigment, and titanium sponge in Ganjam.
“Odisha is poised for a transformational leap in industrial growth, further cementing its status as a premier investment hub,” said the Industries department in a statement.
