The fishing boat went up in flames around 3 or 4 am, causing panic among the members onboard. The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy responded quickly to distress signals and initiated a rescue operation.
According to reports, Indian Coast Guard Ship SavitriBai Phule, on patrol off Mumbai, sighted the fishing boat on fire in Position 190 Prongs Lt 21.
The ship responded to the situation and confirmed that all fishermen from the boat had embarked on another fishing boat in the area and were safe.

According to Raigad’s superintendent of police, all 18 crew members were successfully rescued from the burning vessel. Authorities have also confirmed that there were no casualties and timely intervention prevented any loss of life.
A video shared by news agency ANI showed the thick smoke billowing from the boat, while another captured the evacuation efforts by the Coast Guard.
The cause of the fire has yet to be identified, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
In December 2024, an Indian Navy speedboat lost control and collided with a passenger ferry off the Mumbai coast, resulting in about 13 deaths. As per the reports, the ferry was carrying 110 passengers from Gateway of India to Elephanta Island.
