Bharat Tex, an annual exhibition showcasing India’s capabilities in the textile and apparel sector, took off at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday, February 14.

The four-day event with more than 5,000 exhibitors was inaugurated by Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit the fair on February 16, and also interact with the artisans.

Organised by a consortium of 12 export promotion councils and supported by the Union Ministry of Textiles, the exhibition covered the entire value chain of textiles, from raw materials and fibers to finished products, technical textiles, home furnishings, and high-end fashion.

There were concurrent events focusing on accessories, garment machinery, dyes and chemicals and handicrafts, till February 15 at the India Expo Centre and Mart Greater Noida.

A press release from the organisers said the event was built around the twin themes of resilient global value chains and textile sustainability. There were also global scale textiles conference, seminars, CEO roundtables, and B2B and G2G meetings. The event would include over 70 conferences addressed by international speakers, industry veterans, and policymakers on topics such as global trade shifts, technical textiles, AI-driven manufacturing, and the future of sustainable fashion.

Sudhir Sekhri, chairman of AEPC, said there were over 6,000 buyers from more than 110 countries and a large number of global brands and retail chains. Japan had the largest number of apparel buyers represented in the show, followed by the UAE, Iran, the US, the UK, Spain, South Africa, Russia and Australia.

The exhibition was expected to attract over 120,000 visitors, including policymakers, global CEOs, and industry leaders during the show.
