Aaditi Pohankar opens up about her bond with parents: 'My dad went lingerie shopping with me'

Aaditi Pohankar, who is best known for her role as Pammi in Bobby Deol starrer Aashram, recently shared rare insights into her bond with her parents. In an interview with Hauterrfly, the actress recalled personal moments with her father, including an incident when she went lingerie shopping with him and how they used to bathe each other.
During the conversation, Aaditi revealed that she had a close relationship with her father and was comfortable sharing personal matters with him. She recalled an incident from her teenage years when she needed to buy a bra for the first time and turned to her father for help. “I told my dad, ‘I need to buy a bra, will you come with me?’ because I didn’t know how to go alone,” she shared. Her father accompanied her but chose to wait outside, allowing her to shop at her own pace.
Aaditi also spoke about how she and her sister took care of their father in his later years. She revealed that they would bathe him when he was unwell, just as he had cared for them in their childhood. “As a child, I was the apple of his eye. When he was going through a tough time, I used to bathe him. He said, ‘If you all are okay, I am okay,'” Aaditi recounted.
On the work front, Aaditi Pohankar has gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Pammi in Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 – Part 2, directed by Prakash Jha. However, her journey to landing the role was not easy.

Aaditi Pohankar: It’s all about exploring the power inside you, then nobody can stop you from fulfilling your dreams

Director Prakash Jha recently revealed that he was unsure about casting Aaditi initially, as her physique did not match the role’s requirements. “For Aditi’s casting, I wasn’t fully sure. I saw something in her, but I wasn’t sure how she would do the role. On the first day of the shoot, we had a problem. She was too thin for the role of a wrestler,” Jha shared.
Determined to prove herself, Aaditi committed to gaining weight for the role. “She said that she would gain weight for the role. After one month, she returned and said she had gained only 750 grams. I told her that if she didn’t gain the necessary weight, I would remove her from the film and do another audition,” Jha added.

However, Aaditi persevered and gradually built the required physique for the role. Her dedication paid off, as she delivered a powerful performance that resonated with audiences. “The hunch I had regarding her during the audition came true, and she did marvellously after the shoot started,” Jha concluded.
