Shraddha Kapoor’s jewellery brand took the spotlight on Shark Tank India Season 4, but not without facing tough scrutiny. While the co-founders, Pallavi Mohadikar and Amol Patwari, presented an impressive pitch, investor Vineeta Singh called out the brand for allegedly misleading customers.
Pallavi recalled that she first noticed Shraddha wearing their pieces through an Instagram post. A fan inquired about her necklace, to which Shraddha replied that she had purchased five more because she loved them. Curious, Pallavi checked the orders and discovered that Shraddha had been a customer all along. The team made a social media reel celebrating this moment, which eventually reached the actress. Soon after, Pallavi, who was eight and a half months pregnant at the time, traveled to Mumbai to meet Shraddha, and the collaboration took shape.
The brand’s pitch impressed the investors, though Vineeta Singh pointed out certain concerns regarding customer transparency. The co-founders, Pallavi Mohadikar and Amol Patwari, revealed that the company expects Rs 35 crore in revenue this year, leading to multiple investment offers.
However, the pitch took a turn when Kunal Bahl questioned the brand’s lifetime warranty policy. Upon learning that the so-called lifetime warranty was actually a store credit system with diminishing returns, Kunal expressed disappointment, stating, “But this is not a lifetime warranty.” Vineeta Singh took it further, criticizing the offer as misleading. She pointed out that customers expecting a warranty would feel deceived when they realized their Rs 3,000 purchase only entitled them to a Rs 450 voucher, which wasn’t enough to buy anything from the store. Citing this as a brand risk, Vineeta backed out of making an offer.
Despite this controversy, Namita Thapar and Riteish Deshmukh joined forces to offer Rs 1.26 crore for 1% equity, along with a 0.5% royalty. After some hesitation, the co-founders accepted the deal. Meanwhile, Aman Gupta valued the brand at Rs 20 crore, though his offer was not taken. On the other hand, Shraddha’s association has significantly boosted the brand’s visibility.
Shraddha Kapoor’s work front
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in the horror comedy film ‘Stree 2’ which turned out to be a superhit earning 4 stars out of 5 from ETimes and our official review reads, “Rajkumar Rao is once again in top form, delivering his signature performance with strong support from Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. Pankaj Tripathi continues to shine as Rudra, stealing scenes with his witty one-liners and impeccable shuddh Hindi. The screenplay gives each character their moment in the spotlight, allowing them all to stand out. However, Shraddha Kapoor’s character feels underwhelming, as she appears sporadically and, apart from adding some intrigue, doesn’t contribute much. One standout moment is when Sarkata chases Jana, who is riding with Pankaj Tripathi’s character; Jana even manages to make the headless entity drink alcohol, offering a brief glimpse of a smiling Sarkata. Another highlight is Rajkumar Rao’s hilarious rendition of Rema’s ‘Calm Down.’ The film is filled with laughs and hits all the right notes for a horror comedy.” Shraddha will be next seen in the films ‘Naagin’, ‘Chaalbaaz in London’, KTina, and the third part of ‘Stree’.
