Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has scripted history once again at the box office as it surpasses Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal to claim the title of the 7th highest-grossing Hindi film. The historical epic has amassed a staggering Rs 503.3 crore in 23 days , overtaking Animal, which stands at Rs 502.98 crore. This remarkable feat cements Kaushal’s growing stature in Bollywood as a bankable star capable of drawing audiences to theaters in massive numbers.
What makes this achievement even more significant is that Chhaava has also surpassed two other modern-day box office giants—Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Yash’s KGF Chapter 2. While Dangal had raked in Rs 374.43 crore and KGF Chapter 2 collected Rs 435.33 crore, Chhaava has comfortably outpaced both, reaffirming the audience’s love for historical action dramas.
However, the film’s journey at the box office is far from over. Chhaava is now eyeing the 6th position on the all-time Hindi net grossers list, currently held by Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which boasts a net collection of Rs 510.99 crore. With just Rs 7.69 crore needed to surpass Baahubali 2, the coming days will be crucial in determining if Chhaava can achieve yet another milestone.
The film’s extraordinary success is a testament to the growing appeal of historical epics in Bollywood. Much like Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which resonated strongly with audiences. The film was witnessing a downward trend over the past few days but the weekend collection has once again injected it with new life.
Chhaava directed by Laxman Utekar also featured excellent performances by Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Viineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash. Post Chhaava, Vicky will be seen sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War which is slated to release next year.
