Sonakshi Sinha recently shared the story of how she introduced Zaheer Iqbal to her family. She revealed that her mother, Poonam Sinha, was the first to know about their relationship. However, Sonakshi was initially hesitant to tell her father, actor Shatrughan Sinha, due to his protective nature.
Talking to Hauterrfly, the actress admitted to feeling nervous about telling her father, Shatrughan Sinha, about her relationship with Zaheer. Despite their close bond, she found it more comfortable to discuss personal matters with her mother, Poonam Sinha. Sonakshi initially confided in her mother, who knew about the relationship first, but she didn’t pass on the information to Shatrughan. Instead, Poonam encouraged Sonakshi to share the news herself, saying, “Tumhari baat hai, tum jaake bolo.”
Sonakshi was left with no choice but to have the conversation with her father herself. She even considered asking Zaheer to break the news, but he had already spoken to his own family and urged Sonakshi to take the initiative. She sat down with her father and shared her thoughts, and he responded by saying, “You’re a grown woman, he’s a grown man, you’re both happy with each other, that’s all that matters. You’ve made your decision, I am with you, please go ahead. I would love to meet the boy.” Later, Zaheer officially met Shatrughan, marking a significant step in their relationship. Sonakshi was stunned by how smoothly things unfolded, remembering the many thoughts racing through her mind at the time.
Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot in a civil ceremony on June 23, 2024. The couple had been dating for seven years before making their union official. Their wedding, held at Sonakshi’s Mumbai apartment, was followed by a grand reception attended by Bollywood’s biggest names, including Salman Khan, Kajol, Rekha, Vidya Balan, and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Rapper Honey Singh also performed at the star-studded celebration.
On the work front, Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi‘ which also featured Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Shaikh.
