Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya created buzz for ‘Sky Force’s OTT release with a fun Instagram post. The duo shared a video where they performed Veer’s signature ‘langdi’ step from the song Rang.
The patriotic drama is set to make its OTT debut on Prime Video on March 21, 2025.
Released in theaters on January 24, 2025, coinciding with Republic Day celebrations, ‘Sky Force’ aimed to evoke a sense of patriotism among audiences. While some fans praised its realistic aerial sequences and emotional depth, the box office performance was underwhelming due to high expectations and competition. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapoor and Sandeep Kewlani, the film brings to life India’s first airstrike on Pakistan’s Sargodha Airbase during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani war. After being available for rent on Prime Video for two weeks, the movie will now be accessible to all subscribers.
Sky Force is based on the 1965 Indo-Pak war and focuses on India’s first airstrike on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase. The film follows Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja (played by Akshay Kumar) and Squadron Leader T Vijay (played by Veer Pahariya). Their characters are inspired by real-life war heroes VrC awardee Om Prakash Taneja and MVC awardee Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya.
The movie got 3.5/5 stars, and the Times of India review read, “War films are replete with tales of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism, and directors Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur’s Sky Force adds an element of intrigue to the blend. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Sharad Kelkar, Mohit Chauhan, Manish Chaudhary, Varun Badola, Virendra Singh, Anupam Jordaar, Jaywant Wadkar, and Soham Majumdar.
