Renowned playback singer and television personality Kalpana Raghavendar has reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad following an alleged suicide attempt. According to sources, the singer was found unconscious at her residence and was immediately rushed for medical attention.
A report from ABP Desam states that Kalpana had allegedly consumed sleeping pills. Authorities were alerted after her security personnel noticed that her house had remained closed for two days. Upon forcibly entering the premises, officials discovered her in distress and arranged for urgent medical care.
Medical professionals have confirmed that she is currently under ventilator support, though her condition remains stable. Meanwhile, her husband, who was in Chennai at the time of the incident, is reportedly en route to Hyderabad.
Kalpana, the daughter of renowned playback singer T. S. Raghavendra, rose to fame after winning Star Singer Malayalam in 2010. She has collaborated with legendary composers like Ilaiyaraaja and A. R. Rahman. Having begun her musical journey at the age of five, she has recorded over 1,500 songs across multiple languages. She also briefly ventured into acting, making a cameo appearance in the 1986 Kamal Haasan-starrer Punnagai Mannan. Additionally, she was a contestant in Bigg Boss Telugu (Season 1).She lent her voice to the song ‘Telangana Tejam’ in the Telugu film ‘Keshava Chandra Ramavath’ (2024). Some of her other notable songs include ‘Kodi Parakura Kaalam’ from ‘Maamannan’ and ‘Pogiren ‘ from ’36 Vayadhinile’.
