Combs, 54, was accused of forcing employees to work long hours under the threat of physical, financial, and reputational harm. Prosecutors alleged that Combs and his associates used his businesses—including the Bad Boy Entertainment label—to facilitate abuse of women over two decades.
New allegations expand existing indictment
According to the media reports, the fresh charges build on the current indictment. It bolstered allegations that Combs operated a coercive business in which workers were coerced into sex acts and subjected to exploitative work conditions. No new charges have been brought, but the updated document outlines how he allegedly controlled workers through threats of punishment.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs denies all accusations
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. His attorney Marc Agnifilo stated that his client had never forced anyone into sex acts against their will. He added that the relationships in question were consensual. Agnifilo reportedly called the charges ‘baseless’ and motivated by a need for publicity.
Sean Combs caught on camera beating his former partner
Combs has been held in a Brooklyn jail since his arrest in September 2024. He came to court in a greenish-tan jail jumpsuit, said a BBC report. It added that his beard and greying hair were unkempt. He also looked unemotional about the charges. He reportedly kept waving and blowing kisses to his loved ones who had gathered in court to see him.
The case also features a controversial 2016 CCTV video which shows the rapper beating up his former partner—Cassandra Ventura—in a hotel corridor.
The video, which was released by CNN in 2024, was shown by prosecutors as ‘critical evidence’. However, Combs’ legal team disputed the authenticity of the video. They accused it of being doctored, and claimed that segments were removed in the wrong sequence.
After the video was released last year, Combs publicly apologised saying that he takes full responsibility for his actions in the video. He claimed he was disgusted with himself then and feels so now too.
The trial in the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs case will begin on May 12 and the jury selection will begin on May 5. The rapper could face serious prison time if convicted.
