Ranjeet recently shared several old stories, including a heated fight between Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan. The argument escalated to gunfire, forcing the police to step in.
In an interview with Vicky Lalwaani, Ranjeet shared several intriguing past incidents, including the story behind the sensational headline, Murder was planned at Ranjeet’s place. He also addressed rumours about filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s alleged arrest. Recalling the intense clash between Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan, which escalated to gunfire outside his home, Ranjeet emphasized that he had witnessed the entire incident firsthand.
Ranjeet recalled that he was at home with his girlfriend when his friends, including Prakash, Choudhry, and Shatrughan Sinha, stopped by as part of their usual routine after wrapping up a shoot. That evening, there was a party at a socialite’s residence on Napean Sea Road, which he had planned to attend. The gathering was set to include Zeenat Aman, Sanjay Khan, and Shatrughan Sinha’s group. At that time, Sanjay was struggling with his business, while Zeenat had recently started a relationship. She was also working on his film and handling financial matters.Recalling the incident that led to gunfire, Ranjeet shared that during the party, Shatrughan Sinha placed his hand on Sanjay Khan’s cheek, which Sanjay didn’t appreciate and responded with a slap. This escalated the situation, with Reena Roy also getting involved and accusing Sanjay of hitting Shatrughan. As tensions rose, Sanjay suggested they step outside to settle the matter without disrupting the party. He, along with Bob Christo, Shatrughan, and a few others, left the venue.
Ranjeet recalled that this incident occurred when top producers had signed Shatrughan Sinha for Jwalamukhi after his fallout with Amitabh Bachchan. He mentioned that after Sanjay Khan slapped Shatrughan, the latter and his associates showed up at his house unannounced. Wanting to avoid any confrontation, Ranjeet stayed in his den. However, moments later, he received an intercom message warning him that gunshots were being fired. The group later went to Sanjay Khan’s house, fired shots in the air, and left. He added that the shooters, including Choudhry and Bipin, used country-made guns, firing into the sky while calling Sanjay out.
Ranjeet shared that he waited for the gunfire to stop and the group to leave before safely escorting his girlfriend out. When he returned, he was surprised to find Sanjay Khan sitting in his house. Sanjay, furious about the incident, showed him bullet casings and expressed his anger over the gunfire outside his home. He was ready to file a case, but Ranjeet managed to calm him down and suggested that things could be resolved if the other party apologized.
Ranjeet shared that he called both Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan the next morning to resolve the conflict. While observing from his bathroom, he noticed a car arriving with Zeenat Aman and a lawyer. Several people were already gathered, including Shatrughan’s group and Prakash Mehra’s associates. Suddenly, police sirens blared as multiple officers arrived. Sanjay had called the police, claiming that a group was planning to attack him.
Ranjeet recalled that the police, along with an ACP, arrived at his house. As Sanjay Khan emerged from the bedroom, he explained the situation to the ACP, mentioning his role in the incident and how he could have retaliated. Since it was getting late, Ranjeet left for work without any police intervention. Later that evening, he learned that Dilip Kumar had stepped in, and Prakash Mehra and Shatrughan Sinha were taken to the police station. The next day, newspapers carried the headline: “Murder was planned at Ranjeet’s place.”
Ranjeet clarified that filmmaker Subhash Ghai was not jailed for the incident but was taken to Santacruz Police Station.
