Senior actor Rakesh Pandey passed away on 21st March 2025 at 8:50 am due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted to Arogyanidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, where he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife, daughter Jasmeet, and granddaughter. His last rites were performed on 22nd March at Shastri Nagar crematorium.
Rakesh Pandey was born on 9th April 1940 in Himachal Pradesh, India. His acting journey began in 1969 with the film ‘Sara Akash’, where he played the role of Samar. This marked the start of a long and successful career in both Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema.
Over the years, he took on a variety of roles in different genres. In 1978, he played Mangal in ‘Mera Rakshak’, which helped him gain more recognition. The same year, he also appeared in the film ‘Darwaza’, further proving his versatility as an actor.
Some of his most notable films include ‘Yehi Hai Zindagi’ (1977), where he delivered a strong performance, and ‘Woh Main Nahin’ (1974), in which he played the character of Ranjit Mukherjee. He also impressed audiences with his role in ‘Do Raha’ (1971).
In Bhojpuri cinema, Rakesh Pandey made a mark with films like ‘Balam Pardesiya’ (1979), which was well-received. He also acted in ‘Bhaiya Dooj’, further showcasing his ability to perform in different languages and film industries.
Apart from films, he also worked in television. He played the role of Dadaji (Grandfather) in the popular show ‘Chotti Bahu‘ and was also part of ‘Dehleez’.
