During his visit, PM Modi said Vantara exemplifies India’s long-standing commitment to protecting the planet’s creatures. He shared glimpses of the centre, which spans 3,000 acres within the Jamnagar Refinery Complex and serves as a sanctuary for abused, injured, and endangered animals. Vantara is the first initiative of its kind in India, conceptualised under Anant Ambani’s leadership.
The project has received the ‘Prani Mitra’ National Award, India’s highest honor in animal welfare, in the corporate category. Anant Ambani emphasised the influence of his parents, Mukesh and Nita Ambani, on his dedication to wildlife conservation, sharing that family vacations were often spent in wildlife-rich locations.
Anant stated, “My father is one of the biggest wildlife buffs… they inspired me to do this.” He highlighted his belief in the equal value of all life, referencing cultural teachings that emphasise the sanctity of animals. He expressed his commitment to animal welfare: “For me, in today’s life, you can’t see God, but I see God within every animal.”
Vantara aims to provide a nurturing environment for various species, reflecting a deep-rooted ethos of compassion and conservation.
