The prestigious award, the Oscars is about to shine its golden light on March 3rd, 2025, from 5:30 IST. The questions and scandals persist while the nominees hope to achieve the Academy Award, which will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
In the tragic past, the wildfires ravaging the City of Angles had the aspiring winners, and their fans perplexed about the event’s occurrence. While the annual luncheon was canceled, the main event was not. The previous awards of the season have made it difficult to predict the wins, however, let’s look at what is expected, and the tension in the air.
Oscars 2025: The Presenters
While Conan O’Brien will make his debut as the Oscar Host, Nick Offerman will be the show announcer. The award ceremony’s dazzling and talented presenters include Joe Alwyn, Emma Stone, Elle Fanning, Gal Gadot, Oprah Winfrey, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Ana De Armas, Willem Dafoe, Lily Rose-Depp, and many more.
However, the awards are not the only highlight of the night, the singers who managed to make the audience awe by their performances in ‘Wicked,’ Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eviro, are ready to set the stage on fire with their spellbinding verses and vocals.
Oscars 2025: The Nominees
Leading the pack with 13 nods, while simultaneously breaking the record, ‘Emilia Perez’ sets the bar, making it the most-nominated non-English language film in the history of the Oscars. Following the Spanish film, ‘Wicked’ and ‘The Brutalist’ crowns at the second place with 10 nominations, without getting nominated for ‘Best Director.’ ‘Conclave’ and ‘A Complete Unknown’ with 8 nominations, and ‘Anora’ at 6 nominations, completes the circle of the award season.
The tension between Adrian Brody winning all the season’s awards except SAG, which was hailed by Timothee Chalamet, and the ‘A Complete Unknown’ actor publicly stating the desire to pursue greatness, has made the fans ready with a cup of tea to see who wins.
In contrast, when ‘Emilia Perez’ had season’s biases by breaking the nomination records, the lead of the film, Karla Sofia Garcon’s racial comments on George Floyd and Islamophobic tweets, the campaign shook up and led to decreasing the credibility of the film’s team. To top it all, Karla allegedly made a half-apology to further hurt the sentiments of marginalized communities.
The Would’ve, Should’ve, and Could’ve of the trophy are subjective – yet, what the result states will be known on the weekend after tuning the award ceremony. In India, the ceremony can be watched live on JioHotstar and Star Movies.
