Priyanka Chopra is rumoured to be making her much-anticipated return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film, SSMB 29, starring Mahesh Babu. While the actor has been dropping subtle hints for her fans, her mother, Madhu Chopra, has now added to the speculation in an interview with Lehren Retro.
When asked about the reports of Priyanka being part of SSMB 29, Madhu Chopra seemingly confirmed the buzz, stating, “Vahin shooting pe hain voh” (She is shooting the film). Additionally, she nodded in agreement when the interviewer mentioned that Priyanka is currently in Hyderabad for the shoot.
This comes amid heightened speculation about Priyanka’s involvement in the film, which gained traction after she shared a video documenting her journey from Toronto to Hyderabad. The video featured Roar of RRR as the background music, further hinting at a collaboration with Rajamouli.
Upon arriving in Hyderabad, Priyanka also shared pictures from her visit to the Chilkur Balaji Temple, captioning it, “With the blessings of Shri Balaji, a new chapter begins. May we all find peace in our hearts and prosperity and abundance all around us. God’s grace is infinite. Thank you @upasanakaminenikonidela.”
Her post convinced fans that she was in Hyderabad to begin filming for SSMB 29. However, neither Priyanka nor the film’s makers have officially confirmed her role in the project.
Directed by Rajamouli and penned by his father, Vijayendra Prasad, SSMB 29 is reportedly an action-adventure film inspired by Indiana Jones. The project was officially launched in January with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad, though the makers have kept Mahesh Babu’s look under wraps, maintaining secrecy around the film’s details.
With Madhu Chopra’s recent statement, fans are eagerly awaiting an official confirmation. If true, SSMB 29 would mark Priyanka Chopra’s major comeback to Indian cinema after years of focusing on Hollywood projects.
