Kim Sharma made her acting debut in Yash Raj Films’ 2000 romantic drama Mohabbatein, but her performance didn’t get great reviews. She recently shared that during her audition, Karan Johar bluntly told her she lacked the skills to be an actor.
In a chat with Kunickaa Sadanand, Kim revealed that her entry into films happened by chance. Yash Raj Films noticed her in a commercial and contacted her mother, who was unaware of the opportunity and initially declined. At the time, Kim was traveling, and her mother had no idea about her whereabouts.
The actress further shared details about her audition experience with Karan Johar. She mentioned that she auditioned three times, first with assistant director Nikkhil Advani and later with Karan himself. Looking back, she noted that life has come full circle, as she now works in his organization. However, Karan didn’t seem too impressed with her audition back then.
Kim also recalled Karan Johar’s blunt feedback during her audition, where he questioned her acting and dancing skills. In response, she admitted she wasn’t actively pursuing acting and was simply following instructions to attend. Eventually, Aditya Chopra conducted her third audition and was impressed with her performance.
Despite receiving negative reviews for her performance in Mohabbatein, Kim chose to stay positive. She acknowledged the mixed opinions but refused to let criticism affect her. Instead, she maintained confidence in herself, focusing on the positives and not taking harsh comments to heart.
