The government of Karnataka aims to address the unemployment problem by providing jobs through Udyog Melas. Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development Sharan Prakash Patil announced that one such event will be organised in Kalaburagi on March 28. This will enable unemployed youths of Kalyan Karnataka region to apply for jobs.
He made the announcement after inaugurating a Udyog Mela in the auditorium of the University of Agricultural Science (UAS) in Raichur on March 1.
As many as 65 companies participated in the Udyog Mela, and 6,196 candidates registered online. Appointment letters were issued to 693 candidates on the spot.
The Udyog Mela under DDU-GKY Yojana and Sankalpa was jointly organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation Bengaluru, Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and District Skill Mission Raichur.

“The State Government had recently held a Udyog Mela in Bengaluru where 47,000 unemployed youth participated. Of them, 25,000 were provided jobs. A similar event will be held in Kalaburagi on March 28 where the unemployed youths from Kalyana Karnataka region can participate and get employment,” Dr Patil said.
“Thousands of educated unemployed youths, who are coming to Bengaluru city, are getting jobs in the private sector and also in IT companies. The companies located in Raichur district should provide jobs compulsorily to the local uneducated youths as a top priority,” he said.
The Minister said the State Government continued with its five guarantees, including Yuva Nidhi, which provides ₹3,000 and ₹1,500 as financial assistance to graduates and diploma holders for two years after completion of courses. “The scheme widely helped the unemployed youths,” he added.
MLAs Basanagowda Daddal, Hampanagowda Badarli, A. Vasanth Kumar, APMC Chairman Mallikarjungowda, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K., Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Pandwe, Superintendent of Police Puttamadaiah, Deputy Secretary Shashikanth Shivapure, CPO T. Rohini, G.U. Uded, and Naveen Kumar were present.
