Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were declared officially divorced and single following the approval of a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Friday.
The divorce took effect on February 21, after California’s mandatory six-month waiting period since Lopez filed their divorce settlement on January 6. The couple opted for a private settlement through mediation, avoiding a prolonged court battle often seen in celebrity divorces.
Shortly after news broke about her divorce, Lopez didn’t waste any time crying over the end of her fourth marriage. Fans noted that the singer wiped out all traces of her now ex-husband, Ben from her Instagram account. The singer-actress, who made waves for posting adoring posts, photos and videos from her high-profile romance with Affleck, seemed to have deleted every post that featured him. This was Ben and Jen’s second stint as a couple. In the early 2000s, they met, fell in love, got engaged and starred together in the infamous ‘Gigli’ and ‘Jersey Girl’ in 2004. They split up that same year, blaming in part the pressure of the public eye.
The couple, rekindled their romance nearly two decades and tied the knot in July 2022. After a hush-hush chapel wedding, the two wed again in a lavish wedding at their multi-million dollar mansion. Amidst rumours of marrital strain and Ben’s growing friendship with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, with the filing stating that they had separated more than a year earlier.
JLo has also been celebrating her newly single status by posting empowering posts on social media. On Sunday, the singer also celebrated her children, Max and Emme’s birthdays. The singer marked the twins’ 17th birthday by posting a reel of their photos and videos over the years. “Seventeen. I love you beyond forever,” she captioned the post that featured Miley Cyrus’ upbeat soundtrack ‘Edge of Midnight’.
