According to the IMD, March 2025 will see higher-than-normal maximum temperatures across most regions, while minimum temperatures will also remain elevated—except in Northwest India and the southern parts of the Peninsula.
“Above-normal maximum temperatures are likely over most parts of India from March to May 2025,” the IMD stated. The number of heatwave days is also expected to rise, except in the Northeast and the southernmost regions.
In contrast, parts of the southern Peninsula and the Northeast may experience normal to below-normal temperatures. Meanwhile, rainfall in March is predicted to be normal overall, with some areas in the Peninsular region likely to receive above-average precipitation.
