During her visit, President Murmu received a comprehensive briefing on the phased development of ancient human civilisation and town planning from officials. Yadubir Singh Rawat, Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), provided the President with an in-depth overview of the site, which was inhabited between 3000-1500 BCE. To conclude her visit, President Murmu planted saplings on the premises of the Dholavira site as part of her engagement with the site’s preservation efforts. A day earlier, President Murmu visited a memorial-cum-museum in Bhuj town dedicated to the people who died in the devastating 2001 earthquake in Kutch district of Gujarat. The President visited various galleries of the memorial, Smritivan, and heard stories of strength and resilience amidst devastation caused by a powerful earthquake that struck Kutch district 24 years ago, a state government release said.
