Bollywood actor Govinda has made a surprising revelation about Hollywood director James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar starring Sam Worthington in the lead.
In an interview with Mukesh Khanna, the actor claimed that Cameron offered him the lead role in the film along with a whopping fee of Rs 18 crore. However, Govinda said he turned down the offer because he was uncomfortable with the character’s physical limitations.
“I have left an offer of Rs 21.5 crore, and I remember this because it was very painful leaving it,” Govinda shared. Recalling his connection to James Cameron, the actor mentioned that a businessman he met in America introduced him to the director. “He asked me to do a film with James, so I invited them for dinner to discuss it. I have given the film’s title – Avatar,” he claimed.
Govinda further elaborated on why he chose not to take the role. “James told me the hero in the film was handicapped, so I said I am not doing the film. He offered me Rs 18 crore for it and said I would be required to shoot for 410 days. I said that is okay, but if I paint my body, I will be in the hospital,” he explained.
The actor also highlighted the physical strain certain roles can have on performers. “Our body is the only instrument we have. At times, some things appear very appealing professionally, but you also have to see their effects on your body,” he said.
Govinda’s claims have sparked a debate among fans and film enthusiasts, with many questioning the authenticity of his statements. One Twitter user commented, “Govinda Aur Avatar Ye Kaisa Connection Hai?.” Another Twitter user wrote, “Imagine Govinda in Avatar.” A third comment read, “What if Govinda joins Avatar 3?”
