Goa Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte has been honoured with the Tourism Minister of the Year – India award for his leadership and in promoting and the state’s tourism sector. Additionally, Goa was recognised as the Destination of the Year – India for its diverse tourism offerings, sustainability efforts, and global appeal.
Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa, accepted the award on behalf of Minister Khaunte at the ceremony held at Berlin.

Commenting on the achievement, Khaunte said, “This recognition on a global platform is testament to our commitment to responsible and innovative tourism. Goa continues to evolve as a world-class destination, offering sustainable, high-value tourism experiences while preserving its rich heritage and natural beauty.”
The accolades celebrate Goa’s efforts to develop tourism and enhances its international reputation as a top destination for travellers worldwide.
The event was graced by tourism ministers from 10 countries, ambassadors, leadership of various hotels, airlines, destinations and industry stalwarts. Tourism ministers from St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Nepal, South Africa, UN Tourism Ambassador to the EU former tourism minister of Seychelles and former tourism minister of Greece were present on the occasion.

The Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) recognise governments, organisations, brands, ministers, and individuals who have excelled in the promotion of tourism. This includes airlines, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, destinations, government bodies, tourism ministries, and other service provider(s) related directly or indirectly with the trade.
