His batchmates from the 2011 IFS cohort shared a heartfelt condolence message, reflecting on his contributions to Indian diplomacy and the personal impact he had on those around him.
“Jitendra was more than just a colleague; he was a cherished friend and an exceptional diplomat who embodied the finest qualities of the Indian Foreign Service. From the moment he joined the IFS in 2011, it was evident that diplomacy came naturally to him. His academic brilliance, balanced demeanor, and unwavering commitment to India’s foreign policy goals made him a standout officer.
His contributions to India’s diplomatic engagements were immense, spanning key assignments in Delhi, Tokyo, Yangon, and Brussels. Whether fostering India-Japan relations with his deep appreciation for Japanese culture or playing a critical role in strengthening India-Myanmar ties, Jitendra always approached his work with intelligence and dedication. His leadership in overseeing bilateral development projects worth over $1.5 billion in Myanmar during a tumultuous period is a testament to his resilience and diplomatic acumen.
Even as he faced personal health challenges, Jitendra continued to serve with remarkable dedication and a smile that never wavered. His empathy, ability to connect with people, and subtle humor made him not just an excellent officer but also a beloved friend and mentor.
We want his parents, wife, and children to know that Jitendra’s commitment to his family was as strong as his dedication to the nation. He was deeply respected, admired, and loved, and his absence leaves a void in our hearts.
As we bid him farewell with profound grief, we take solace in knowing that his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the remarkable work he accomplished. Jitendra will always be remembered as a fine diplomat, a great friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him.”
