A press release from the Northern Railway revealed the schedule for four new special trains designed to handle the increased demand. These include Train No. 04420, which will travel from New Delhi to Prayagraj Junction via Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, and Rae Bareli, departing at 19:00 hrs. Train No. 04422 will also travel the same route, leaving at 21:00 hrs.
Additionally, Train No. 04424 will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal to Prayagraj Junction, following the same route, at 20:00 hrs. Another service, Train No. 04418, will run from New Delhi to Darbhanga, passing through Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, departing at 15:00 hrs.
These special trains have been introduced due to concerns over overcrowding at railway stations following the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. Authorities have been under pressure to implement measures that would prevent further chaos as thousands of pilgrims continue to head to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela.
