With Estée Lauder Companies Inc. already engaging with 19,000 partners across India through its brands, the company aims to continue its expansion and outreach to consumers through the MoU with Startup India, which will expand the BEAUTY&YOU India program with a new initiative to support women-founded startups.
This partnership is the first of its kind between a global beauty company and Startup India.
In an exclusive conversation with CNBC-TV18, the company’s President and CEO, Stéphane de La Faverie, highlighted that the company sees immense potential for its perfumes in India, with a growing middle class already purchasing products from 14 of its brands. Referring to the prestige beauty company’s presence in India for the past 20 years, he said the company is in the midst of exploring more opportunities to domestically produce products for the Indian market across several of its brands.
Describing the MoU with Startup India as a testament to the company’s commitment to expansion in the country, he stated that the company intends to increase its investment to support the advancement of women.
Calling India a market full of energy and opportunities, particularly with the rise in beauty product consumers, he noted that during his previous visit in October 2024, the company had announced manufacturing for one of its associated brands to support the wedding season in India.
BEAUTY&YOU India supports India-focused beauty innovators with grants, mentorship, and industry access tailored to every stage of entrepreneurship. According to the company, this program has attracted over 1,500 applicants from 150+ cities and has invested in grants to foster a diverse community of entrepreneurs by promoting innovation and supporting women-led businesses.
The company’s products are sold under brand names such as Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Lab Series, Origins, M·A·C, La Mer, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Aveda, Jo Malone London, Bumble and bumble, Darphin Paris, Tom Ford, Smashbox, AERIN Beauty, Le Labo, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, GLAMGLOW, Kilian Paris, Too Faced, Dr. Jart+, the DECIEM family of brands (including The Ordinary and NIOD), and Balmain Beauty.
