Elon Musk has announced the launch of an early beta voice feature for Grok, the AI developed by xAI. Available on iOS through the Grok app, the feature allows users to communicate with the AI via voice commands and hear spoken responses. However, it is not fully public yet—accessible only to some testers and hidden behind feature flags. Android users will need to wait for future updates as the feature stabilises.
Grok voice early beta is now available on the @Grok app.
This is early beta, so expect issues (that will be resolved fast), but it’s still awesome. https://t.co/bSE6QKmnU0

This voice integration is part of the Grok 3 rollout, which also introduces notable updates like DeepSearch. While Grok 3 has multiple enhancements, the voice feature is drawing attention for its interactive and practical appeal. Musk had teased the feature since late 2024 and confirmed it would debut within a week during a February 17 demo, staying on track with his announcement.
Currently, the voice feature is exclusive to Premium+ X users or SuperGrok subscribers. However, xAI plans to expand access as the feature is fine-tuned. In its early beta phase, the experience is expected to be imperfect, with occasional glitches like stutters or awkward phrasing. Nonetheless, the rapid updates promise to smooth out these bugs quickly.
In practice, the voice mode aims to make Grok feel more like a conversational companion, shifting away from traditional “type and wait” interactions to a more engaging, spoken experience. To use it, Premium+ users can toggle on the voice feature, select the “Sal” voice, and begin chatting—bugs aside.
