Pradeep Ranganathan starrer ‘Dragon,’ has been performing well at the box office since its release on February 21, 2025. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, this coming-of-age comedy-drama has captured the hearts of audiences.

As per trade analyst Sacnilk, Dragon earned around Rs 4.75 crore India net on its sixth day for all languages (early estimates). This marks a total of Rs 45.70 crore.
The movie has performed exceptionally well at the box office, earning over Rs 28.80 crore in its first three days in India. The Tamil version has been particularly successful. On its sixth day, ‘Dragon’ continued to attract audiences, with an overall occupancy of 30.89% in Tamil Nadu with morning shows at 23.27%, afternoon shows at 34.38%, evening shows at 29.18% and night shows at 36.73%.
The film also marked 32.26% occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions. Wtih morning shows at 20.83%, afternoon shows at 37.22%, evening shows at 27.42% and night shows at 43.58%. This shows a consistent performance after its opening weekend.
The story revolves around Ragavan, a troubled student who faces a bad breakup and subsequently abandons his studies. He then enters the world of financial fraud. Initially, Ragavan appears to be a ‘don’ of the college, admired by his peers for his seemingly successful life. However, beneath the surface, he struggles with loneliness and the consequences of his shortcuts to success.
The movie also features Kayadu Lohar, Anupama Parameswaran, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles.
The film’s music is composed by Leon James and the cinematography is done by Niketh Bommi.
Despite facing challenges from online piracy, with the film being leaked in HD quality by Tamil Rockers shortly after its release, ‘Dragon’ remains a strong contender in the current box office lineup. Its digital rights have been acquired by Netflix after its theatrical run.
