DJ Aqeel talks about ex-sister-in-law Sussanne Khan's divorce with Hrithik Roshan: 'They never talked about personal life issues...'

DJ Aqeel, known for his hit Shake it Daddy Mix in the 2000s, was previously married to Farah Khan Ali, Sussanne Khan’s sister. They were together for 18 years before separating. In a recent interview, Aqeel discussed his separation from Farah and also spoke about Sussanne’s divorce from Hrithik Roshan, which happened around the same time.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, DJ Aqeel spoke about his ex-wife, Farah Khan Ali, calling her a wonderful person who loves his music. When asked about their divorce, Aqeel said they grew apart, mostly due to his lifestyle. They were together for 18 years, including two years of dating and one year of engagement before marrying. Aqeel also remembered meeting Farah’s father, actor Sanjay Khan, for the first time in a kurta and receiving a warm welcome. He shared that there was no opposition from Sanjay, who supported their relationship because Farah loved him.

When DJ Aqeel was asked about his split with Farah Khan Ali, he explained that neither of them ever discussed it directly. They continued living in the same house during their long separation, and one day, they simply decided to get a divorce, without anything major changing. Aqeel also mentioned that around the same time, Sussanne Khan was going through her separation from Hrithik Roshan.

When asked if he was in touch with Hrithik, DJ Aqeel shared that they were in contact, but he was particularly close to Sussanne. Since both couples were going through similar phases in their lives, the interviewer asked if they ever discussed their situations. Aqeel explained that Hrithik and Sussanne had their own personal issues, and they never really talked about such matters with each other.

In a 2016 interview with Femina, Sussanne Khan opened up about the real reason for her divorce from Hrithik Roshan. She shared that over the years, they reached a point where they realized they could no longer stay in a relationship that felt false to them.
