India’s import of machinery and equipment from Germany in 2024 increased 2.6% to 4,298 million Euros, according to VDMA, an organisation for the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in Germany and Europe.India constitutes 2.2% of Germany’s total export of machinery and equipment.However, export of machinery from India to Germany fell 4.9% in 2024 compared with the previous year.German machinery and equipment manufacturing companies exported goods worth 199.6 billion Euros in 2024, which was 5% (nominal) lesser than the exports during 2023, VDMA said in a press statement. Apparel exports to Spain registered a 19.7% growth for the April-January 2024-2025 period compared with the same period the previous year.According to Mithileshwar Thakur, secretary general of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), export of readymade garments rose 11.6 % during April 2024-January 2025 over the corresponding period the previous fiscal, “despite global headwinds, geo-political challenges and supply chain disruptions.”Garment shipments to the U.S. rose 13.8% and to the U.K., the growth was 8.9%. Generic drugmaker Granules India is foraying into the peptide segment and contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) business with a ₹192.5 crore (CHF 20 million) acquisition of Swiss firm Senn Chemicals AG.Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Dielsdorf, Switzerland, Senn is focused on custom peptide manufacturing and supports global clients across pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and theragnostic industries, from early development to commercial production. Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML) has announced to set up a Polylactic Acid (PLA) biopolymer manufacturing unit at Kumbhi, Uttar Pradesh with an investment of ₹2,850 crore. It will be funded through 40% equity and 60% debt. The company said it would be India’s first such integrated biopolymer plant that will help in replacing single use plastic.
