Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away on March 14, 2025, leaving the Hindi film industry in mourning. The news of his demise came as a shock to many, prompting close friends and well-wishers to extend their support to the Mukherjee family.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who were away in Alibaug for the actress’ birthday celebration, rushed back to Mumbai upon hearing the news. The couple, who share a close bond with Ayan Mukerji, were spotted returning to the city on Friday. A paparazzi video captured Ranbir holding their daughter, Raha, in his arms as they exited. However, upon noticing the shutterbugs, he quickly turned back towards Alia to shield their little one from the cameras before heading to their car. Moreover, Karan Johar too is heading towards Ayan’s residence.
Deb Mukherjee was a noted actor, known for his roles in films like Sikandar and Adhikar. He was last seen in a special appearance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 film Kaminey, which starred Shahid Kapoor.
