Abhishek Bachchan, who recently starred in the heartwarming film Be Happy, has opened up about his approach to choosing roles. The actor shared that since becoming a father to Aaradhya Bachchan, he consciously avoids films with very sexually explicit content, ensuring that his projects are family-friendly.
In an interview with The Quint, Abhishek emphasized that he follows his instincts when selecting scripts. He believes that a film should evoke an emotional response rather than be overanalyzed. “The one thing I am never going to do is evaluate my films. The minute you start evaluating an emotion, you are done,” he stated. “You hear the story—did it touch you? If yes, go for it.”
However, the Guru actor admitted that he steers clear of certain themes. “Maybe if there is something that is sexually explicit, I am very uncomfortable with that. I don’t like showing all of that on screen. Even if I am watching a show alone and something very sexually explicit comes on, mujhe thoda ajeeb lagta hai,” he revealed.
Abhishek also shared how fatherhood has influenced his decisions. “Since I became a girl dad, I only want to make films that I can watch with my daughter. I don’t say this just for the sake of it, but I genuinely consider how she would feel if she saw me in a certain role.”
His latest film, Be Happy, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 14, aligning with Holi celebrations. The Remo D’Souza directorial features Abhishek Bachchan as Shiv, a devoted single father, and Inayat Verma as his daughter Dhara. The film follows their inspiring journey as Shiv steps into a dance competition to fulfill his daughter’s dream, despite having no background in dance.
The film also stars Nora Fatehi, Nassar, Johnny Lever, and Harleen Sethi in pivotal roles. Be Happy delivers a touching narrative about love, perseverance, and the unbreakable father-daughter bond.
