“Phone (3a) Series. Where technical intricacy meets purity – the essence of Nothing,” Nothing India wrote in its post on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the iconic transparent back of the smartphone in black.

For a company that has based its entire strategy on the unique aesthetics of all its products — including smartphones — this time it seems to be a miss, at least for now.
Responding to the reveal, several users on X and Reddit are sharing their discontent with the product design, saying that they expected better. Fans had high expectations for Nothing’s first triple-camera setup, but the execution has left many disappointed.
“I thought the leaks were wrong, this could not be the camera design,” one user wrote on X.
I thought the leaks were wrong, this could not be the camera design, but oh boy… I have no idea how this got finalized ????

Another user shared that the reason they chose Nothing phones was because of their design and how they don’t like this new attempt.
The reason why I chose Nothingphone was its design, which was different from other phones. However, I didn’t like the new design.

“I want to see Carl Pei defending the design of the camera bump. Looks hideous imo,” a Reddit user shared.
The camera bump has become a major talking point since Nothing first teased the design on February 18. It consists of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope lens and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. On the front is a 50MP selfie shooter.
Despite the unconventional placement of the camera sensors, the design bears similarities to the OnePlus 13, Vivo X200 Pro, and Xiaomi’s upcoming 15 Ultra, which is set to launch on March 2.
In the image, we can also see a new button below the power button, which is believed to be similar to the Camera Control seen on the iPhone 16 series.
Set to launch on March 4, the Nothing Phone (3a) series still has the potential to win over users once it hits the market—especially if it is priced competitively. For context, the Nothing Phone (2a) was launched at ₹19,999 and the Phone (2a) Plus was priced at ₹27,999.
Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the Phone (3a) is expected to be priced under ₹30,000. If priced higher, many users say they would rather wait for the Nothing Phone (3).
