Bhasker, married to politician Fahad Ahmad, earlier expressed her views on Vicky Kaushal’s latest release Chhaava.
The 36-year-old, who has faced trolling in the past for voicing her opinions, referenced the Laxman Utekar directorial with the stampede at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj and the New Delhi Railway station. However, Swara did not specifically mention them in her post.
“A society that is more enraged at the heavily embellished partly fictionalised filmy torture of Hindus from 500 years ago than they are at the horrendous death by stampede & mismanagement + then alleged JCB bulldozer handling of corpses – is a brain & soul-dead society. #IYKYK,” Swara wrote on X.

After facing criticism over her Wednesday’s post, Swara on Friday issued a clarification and tried to explain her comments.
She claimed that her viral post on X, generated “much debate & avoidable misunderstanding.”
Swara asserted that she respects the “brave legacy and contribution” of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as well as his “ideas of social justice & respect for women.”
“My limited point is that glorifying our history is great but please don’t misuse the glory of the past to hide the mistakes and failures of present times. Historical understanding should always be used to unite people and not to divide and divert attention from current issues,” read her clarification post.
She further mentioned that if her earlier post hurt any sentiments then that is ‘regretted.’
Concluding her post, Swara asserted that she is “proud of our history,” adding that it should “unite us and give us strength to fight for a better and more inclusive future.”
My tweet has generated much debate & avoidable misunderstanding. Without any doubt I respect the brave legacy and contribution of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.. especially his ideas of social justice & respect for women.

On January 29, at least 30 people lost their lives, while 60 others got injured in a stampede in the city of Prayagraj, which is hosting the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 from January 13 to February 26 at Triveni Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
A total of 18 people died in the stampede at the overcrowded New Delhi Railway station on February 15.
Meanwhile, Chhaava, based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, has garnered significant attention at the box office, raking in more than ₹200 crore in the domestic market. It hit screens on February 14.
In the film, the makers have shown the brutal torture that Sambhaji faced at the hands of Mughal forces.
Besides featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.
