Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday (March 28, 2025) announced that the Union Cabinet has approved a non-semiconductor electronics component manufacturing scheme. The production-linked incentive scheme will have an outlay of ₹22,919 crore.
”There has been historic growth in electronics manufacturing. Production has grown 5 times in CAGR, and exports have grown sixfold. Electronics has become among the top three items in the export of goods,” he said.
”Electronics, textiles and garments generate huge amount of employment, hence to grow this further, a historic decision has been taken in the complete electronics manufacturing value chain. We’re making progress in the semiconductor part of the value chain, in the PLI for finished products. This time, we are covering sub-assemblies and bare components.”
Capacitors, inductors, resistors, connectors, these will be manufactured in the country, he added.
“This will significantly improve the value addition in India,” said the Minister. “91,600 direct jobs will be generated. ₹4,56,000 crore of production will be generated.”
