Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and his family held a prayer meet in Mumbai on Tuesday (March 18) in memory of his late father, veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, who passed away at the age of 83 on March 14. Ayan took a moment to speak with the paparazzi gathered outside the venue about their dissatisfaction regarding the spot they had been given to cover the prayer meet.
In a recent video shared by paparazzi online, Ayan was seen addressing the photographers and requesting their cooperation. It appeared that the paparazzi were dissatisfied with the designated spot for capturing images, as their position limited their ability to photograph all the celebrities arriving for the solemn occasion. However, Ayan explained the necessity of the arrangement, emphasising the need for a peaceful atmosphere.
“I just felt like there would be a lot of commotion inside. It’s a prayer meet—it’s quite personal. If you feel you are not getting better shots, then I am sorry, but I think for us, this will be a better arrangement today,” he said.
When a photographer requested a better location for clearer shots of attendees, Ayan clarified that the venue did not have such space and highlighted the importance of maintaining decorum. He stated, “We didn’t have that kind of space here. There will be some shlokas inside. If there are too many photographers, it will get very noisy. So please understand for today. I understand, but you guys also need to understand a bit today. This is a very personal event for us. It’s not like Durga Puja—it’s very different for us today.”
Ayan further assured the paparazzi that visuals from the event would be shared later.
At the same time, Ranbir Kapoor was spotted entering the venue to offer his prayers for the late Deb Mukherjee.
