Kaushal brings with him an extensive background in the energy sector, with more than three decades of experience spanning oil and gas, power, and renewables. Prior to his appointment, he served as the global leader for energy and process industries at Kearney.
A chemical engineering graduate from Punjab University and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Kaushal has held key leadership positions throughout his career. He was twice elected to Kearney’s Global Board of Directors and also served as Managing Director and Country Head for Kearney India for five years.
Key Contributions to India’s Energy Sector
Kaushal has played a crucial role in shaping the Indian oil and gas landscape as an advisor to leading state-run firms, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), HPCL, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and GAIL. His strategic initiatives include:
IOC: Led the establishment of its petrochemicals and gas divisions, drove refinery maintenance transformation, and spearheaded retail and cost transformation projects.
HPCL: Established the Centralised Procurement Office, implemented energy-saving measures, and led petrochemical diversification strategies.
BPCL: Led net-zero planning and petrochemicals strategy.
Power Sector: Worked with NTPCon corporate plan implementation, introduced reliability-centred maintenance for Tata Power, and designed industrial power sales strategies for a global firm.
