The scheme is aimed at reaching out to women, who are considered to be a major votebank in the politically important state.
In a post on X in Hindi, Yadav wrote, “We will launch the ‘Stree Samman-Samriddhi Yojana’ in 2027 and empower every girl, young woman, and female citizen!”

The former chief minister also shared an about 4-minute video highlighting the challenges faced by women and portraying hope for change if the SP forms the government in 2027. Yadav has consistently asserted in his speeches that the SP will return to power in UP in 2027.
In the past Assembly polls, women voters have turned out to be a decisive force in forming the government. Parties in all states are not leaving any stone unturned to reach out to this class of voters.
In the video, TV actress Ankita Lokhande is seen as the brand ambassador who is highlighting the work done by the previous SP government for the welfare of women. The video raised issues of women empowerment, education, unemployment and inflation.
There are about 15 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh, out of which about 7.15 crore are women voters. The increased participation of women voters in the recent elections has affected the election results. After which the Samajwadi Party has now started preparations to reach out to the half of the population included in the PDA (Pichda (backward) Dalit and Adivasi (tribals)).
The Congress and SP promised to give Rs 8500 to women in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections worked in their favour. Now, Akhilesh Yadav has announced the Stree Samman Samridhi Yojana in a measure aimed at getting support of women voters.
