The third order makes this the largest Commercial & Industrial (C&I) order for Suzlon, with a cumulative capacity of 907.2 MW.
Two earlier orders awarded to Suzlon Energy were to power JSPL’s plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, through the addition of 702.45 MW of wind energy.
Commercial & Industrial customers now account for 59% of Suzlon Energy’s total order book, which has now reached a record high of 5.9 GW.
For the new order, Suzlon will supply 65 state-of-the-art S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT), each of which will have a capacity of 3.15 MW.
The energy generated will be utilised for captive consumption in steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, enhancing their operational sustainability and contribute to India’s green energy transition, Suzlon Energy said in an exchange filing.
“Building on our initial successes in Karnataka, we are now expanding the low Carbon Dioxide steel movement to Tamil Nadu,” Suzlon Group vice chairman Girish Tanti said.
In an interaction with CNBC-TV18 earlier, Suzlon Group CFO Himanshu Mody had said that the then order book of 5.5 GW will be executed over the next 18 months.
Shares of Suzlon Energy ended 0.6% lower on Tuesday at ₹49.43. The stock is down 43% from its recent peak of ₹86. The stock has corrected 25% so far in the first two months of the year.
