“The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Revenue to Shri Ajay Seth, IAS (KN:1987), Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs upon relinquishment of the charge of the post by Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, IAS (OR:1987), till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” said the government order.
Seth, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1987 Karnataka cadre, will continue his duties in the Department of Economic Affairs while managing the additional responsibility of the Revenue Department.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the new Chairman of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India). Pandey will assume office for an initial tenure of three years.
A CNBC-TV18 report had earlier said that Pandey was among a list of contenders for the role.
