Rajinikanth and Sridevi have shared screen space in many movies like ‘Ranuva Veeran’, ‘Pokkiri Raja’, ‘Chaalbaaz’ and many others. They have done 18 movies together. But did you know that the superstar really liked Sridevi. According to many reports, Rajinikanth gradually fell in love with Sridevi as they continued working together. He was close to her family and had also expressed to Sridevi’s mother that he wants to marry her when she is 16. Once, the Thailava even went to her house to confess love to her, but destiny had other plans.
In an interview, filmmaker, K. Balachander revealed that Rajinikanth was serious about his feelings. So, he decided to visit Sridevi’s house to propose to her. But just as he arrived at her home during a housewarming ceremony, the electricity suddenly went out. The house was left in darkness. Rajinikanth is deeply superstitious so he saw this as a bad omen and left without expressing his love towards her. He never brought up the topic again.
Eventually, Sridevi ended up marrying Boney Kapoor in 1996. It is also said that before that, she was in a serious relationship with Mithun Chakraborty and they had also married secretly. Though, neither of the two ever confirmed this.

Meanwhile, Sridevi and Rajinikanth’s mutual respect for each other lasted always. Once when they were shooting for ‘Rana’, Rajinikanth fell ill and she fasted for his recovery for 7 days.
